Sea Turtles

The sea turtle photos below were taken on the Sherman, where barnacle-covered individuals have been known to take up residence and remain for weeks at a time.  They hide under ledges, and sometimes come up to the boat to say hello!

The turtles we see the most are green leatherbacks and hawk bills.  Being reptiles, they require very little oxygen and can remain underwater for extremely long periods of time.  Sea turtles have lived on earth and have remained virtually unchanged by evolution for over 250 million years.
